GARDEN ART

When designing a home, gardens are often over-looked, or left entirely to landscapers.   The trend in South Africa is now moving towards adding ethnic, artistic elements to our gardens.  So popular is this trend that we are now exporting African garden art.  Starting with the United Kingdom.  Not because South Africa is more popular with British people It is because, one, it is closer and two, a significant number of South Africans have British heritage.

Interestingly, the most visitors to South Africa, other than other Africans, are from the United States.  Which is taken as a compliment. We are a long long way from North America.

Preamble over, let's get to it.

Zimbabwe is a close neighbour to South Africa and as such we have a large contingent of Zimbabweans residing here. Although the  Zimbabwean influence is notable in many ways, what we like in particular is their art.  Zimbabweans are inherently creative and this dates back to the16th Century.

The art takes various forms and has over the years been perfected and commercialised.  Today Visual Art is now a source of employment and livelihood for many Zimbabweans.  A lot of whom sell their art informally in South Africa. It allows them to support their families back home.  Particularly in recent years where global disruptions have had an impact in third world countries.

The group we support sell their art in outdoor settings and do very well indeed

Without further ado allow me to introduce to you......
